Truck 9 Assists with Second Alarm Storage Facility Fire in District Heights
On February 27 at 12:57 hours, Truck 9 was dispatched as one of three additional ladder trucks to the 2700 block of Whitney Place in District Heights (Box 26-08) for a reported structure fire.
Initial arriving units reported fire on the second floor of a two-story standalone storage facility. Due to the complexity of the incident, the assignment was quickly upgraded to a second alarm, ultimately bringing more than 100 personnel to the scene.
After an approximate 20-minute response time, Truck 9, staffed with five volunteers, arrived and positioned on the Bravo side of the structure. Crews encountered challenging conditions, including limited interior access and solar panels covering portions of the roof system. To reach the seat of the fire, firefighters were required to remove sections of corrugated metal decking from the exterior of the building.
Truck 9 operated on scene for just under eight hours, assisting with fire suppression, overhaul, and support operations before returning to service.
