Sunday, January 10, 2010 - At 1542 hours, units were alerted to 6628 Chestnut Avenue (Riverdale heights) for the house fire. Engine 94 with 6 men responded as the Fifth due Engine Company. Units arrived on the scene of a split level house, with smoke showing from both floors. Engine 94 arrived on the scene and picked up Engine 830's line and went to work. The crew advanced a line to the top floor to stop extension. Division one had a room and a half off, with extension to the upper levels. Division two had extension in the walls from a gas fed fire. All crews worked for 30 minutes opening up the walls hitting hot spots. Engine 94 cleared the scene at 1645 hours.
A fire task force was sounded to the scene. The second crew from 9 was never added to the call. (Another communications mistake) Most of the task force was released with-in twenty minutes.
