Tuesday, January 5, 2010 - So far this year, company has averaged 24 calls a day. Today was another busy one. Around 0945 hours, Engine 94 (6 Men) responded fourth due to 7731 Landover Road for the dryer fire. Units from 33 arrived on the scene with light smoke showing. Engine 94 dropped a line from the rear of Company 33 and advanced the 400' line over the fence to side "C" of the structure. The crews from 33 had the fire out with-in minutes, but the guys did one hell of a job getting the line in service.
Shortly after lunch, Engine/Truck 9 were alerted to Quincy Place and Quincy Street for the outside fire. While going up Annapolis Road, a black column was seen in the sky. Crews arrived to find a roofing tar-pit on fire near the building. Crews worked for 15 minutes cooling the machine. Company went in service 30 minutes later. And to finish up the afternoon, the 11 Volunteers completed a search and line advancement drill, in our auxiliary building beside the station.
