Just after finishing up dinner, both Engines with 9 men were alerted to 5603 Kenilworth Avenue for the kitchen fire. Engine 94 arrived on the scene of a typical two story "IHOP" with smoke showing from the vent stacks. The crew stretched a crosslay into the dining room and were met with fire from the kitchen. Engine 72 and Engine 92 stretched back up lines to the dining room and stood fast. Squad 14 completed the searches, while Truck Company 1 opened up and checked the roof for extension. All work was completed with-in 20 minutes and command started releasing units. Company 9 cleared with-in 90 minutes.
