At 18:23, Public Safety Communications received a phone call for 2400 57th Avenue, reporting a house fire. Engine 94, and Engine 92 were alerted on the initial box alarm for Box 38-13, and turned out with 12 volunteers. Engine Company 9 arrived to find a two story single family home, with smoke showing from the roof area. A handline was stretched to the first floor where fire was found to be involving the walls and ceiling on the 1st floor. The Pumper crew initially stretched to the 1st floor to backup the Wagon, but after communicating with the incident commander, re positioned their handline to the second floor to extinguish the fire that vertically extended up. The fire was quickly contained to the 1st and 2nd floors, and the incident was soon scaled back to just Engine Company 9, and the Truck Company from Chapel Oaks.
